Demco SBS Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit Installation - 2023 Ford Ranger- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Demco Charge Line for towed vehicles on a 2023 Ford Ranger. Charge lines are something that I recommend to just about anyone that's flat towing a vehicle. Unless you have a battery disconnect and even sometimes with the battery disconnect, you wanna make sure that the battery of your towed vehicle is not going to start to dwell once you're towing it, and then when you get to your campsite you end up having to jumpstart your vehicle. Just to save yourself that little bit of headache I think the charge line is worth it even if it saves you from having to do that once. And the reason being is it's very simple to put in place. You wanna make sure you're doing this at the same time as your diode wiring because it's pretty simple. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today our 2022 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Demco Towed Vehicle Charge Line Kit. Before we get into that though, why don't we just take a minute, talk about this and kind of understand why it's a good idea to use something like this. A charge line kit is one of those simple but really important components and a lot of times it's overlooked and what it's gonna do is essentially trickle charge or maintain your Ranger's battery whenever you're flat towing it. And that's necessary because these supplemental braking systems that you use on these trucks use battery power whenever they operate. And so when you're over the road for, you know, extended periods of time and that battery or that braking system is constantly just draining on your battery a little bit, it could potentially leave you with a dead battery whenever you get to your destination. more

Before we get into that though, why don't we just check this out and talk about why it's a smart idea to use something like this. What the charge line kit is gonna do is maintain or triple charge essentially your truck's battery. And that's important because the majority of the time just about every braking system out there operates off of the vehicle's battery whenever it's being flat towed. So over time you're over the road for 6, 8, 10 hours plus, every time you hit the brakes in your system, braking system operates, it's gotta deplete the battery a little bit, and a little bit, and a little bit. more

But before we do that, why don't we check it out And I'll try to explain to you what this actually does. So the whole point of a charge line kit is to keep your battery topped off. And the reason being, just about every single supplemental breaking system out there is gonna use some of your Rangers battery power whenever it's being flat towed. And so what can happen is over time, you know, when you're towing this your breaking system is just going to take a little bit of juice a little bit of juice, a little bit of juice and over time that can actually wear your battery down. more

And the first one is going to be that base plate, and that's gonna provide us with a solid and reliable connection point, that way we can hook our tow bar up to it. Tow bar is going to be that second component, and this is gonna be the physical link that actually connects the front of our truck to the back of our motor home. So something that we run into quite often here at etrailer with customers flat towing their vehicles is a lot of times they have a couple of cars that they like to pull behind their motor home. Or they have a vehicle for a couple of years, sell it and get something new and they wanna flat tow that behind their coach. Well, the thing is if your coach is already set up for an Air Force One Braking System, it don't make much sense to change everything just to pull your vehicle. So a solution to that problem would be to use the second vehicle kit. more

Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Demco towed vehicle battery charge wire kit. So the main reason I always recommend using a charge wire kit is so your battery is not drained down whenever you get to your destination. And that happens because nine times out of 10, the vehicle braking system that you're using actually draws power from your vehicle's battery to operate. So every time you apply the brakes and that breaking system activates, it's gonna take a little bit of juice from your battery. So let's say if you don't stop every now and again and start up your car, let that battery charge up, or if you're on a multiple day trip, leave everything hooked up, and you get to your destination, unhook your vehicle, sometimes your battery can be drained and be dead. more

But, to take a better look at it, I'll go ahead and pop this off, and we can check it out.The charge line's going to be a really simple kit. It's just going to consist of a little bit of wiring and the breaker that we have mounted right here out of the way. The purpose of the charge line kit is to more or less trickle charge or maintain your Ranger's battery whenever you're flat towing it down the road. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2001 Ford Ranger- Video
Today on our 2001 Ford Ranger, we're going to install part number 39510. This is the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller. To help us with our install, we'll be using 2 other part numbers. We'll also be using part number ETBC7, the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers, and also a bracket to mount our 7-Pole Connector. This will be part number 18136. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Ford Ranger- Video
Today on our 2008 Ford Ranger we're going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part number 90195 along with the etrailer brake controller install kit part number ETBC7. To start we'll first go ahead and assemble the 7-pole adapter bracket. With the hardware provided we'll use it to attach the bracket to the 7-pole adapter. We'll go ahead and take the bracket and feed it over the wires and up to the back of the mounting surface for the 7-pole adapter. Then we'll take the screws, feed them through the front side of the 7-pole and secure it with the nuts on the backside. Once we have all four in place we'll go ahead and tighten them down. Now once we have the bracket mounted to help secure our wires and clean up our install look we're going to go ahead and tape it up here until we get to the 4-pole connector. Using some black electrical tape, it'll help bundle it up and protect our wires. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2011 Ford Ranger- Video
Today in our 2011 Ford Ranger we are going to be installing the Prodigy P2 Brake controller, part number 90885 in conjunction with the ETBC7 wiring kit for our new simple harness which will be mounted with the no drill bracket from Draw-Tite, part number 18136. To begin our installation we are going to start here at the back of the vehicle. Go ahead and wire up our bracket and start running our new duplex cable to the front of the vehicle. As you can see this vehicle is already equipped with a four pole harness. Before we can install our seven-pole well need to go ahead and attach the mounting bracket. Well use some supplied hardware then once we get all four fasteners in position well go ahead and tighten them down. more
